Services that available on the Networks and Internet


Internet Services refers to the various services that are available in the Internet. They are applications that are running behind or on the Internet. Each service was developed for different purposes since the Internet has been used since its introduction used in different ways. For each one of those purposes the Internet there is a service available or running on the Internet. Also, each service is provided by a Protocol. The terms "Service" and "Protocol" are equivalent since each service uses a standard Protocol. The number of services available on the Internet continues to increase while others are just modified.

Examples of Internet Services (notice that they are also Protocols): World Wide Web (notice that even though the WWW might be the most popular (along with email) it is not the only Internet Service).
